  WHAT HAPPENED?

  Premier League clubs have been struggling all season long to achieve compliance with the PSR ahead of their June 30 deadline, and the same was the case with the Magpies as they looked to make sales before the deadline. They luckily made the sales of Yankubah Minteh and Elliot Anderson ahead of the deadline and could have been hit with a deduction if not for those sales.

  As per Daily Mail's Craig Hope, Newcastle were ready to make the fire sale of winger Anthony Gordon, if the sales of Minteh and Anderson could not have been acted upon before the deadline. The Magpies feared a potential 10-point penalty for next season if they breached the PSR regulations for this term.
